Shadows across the Bowling Green

Shadows flow across the lower of the two summer bowling greens in Hyde Park.

In the background is the new pavilion built in 2008 to replace the old pavilion which was gutted by fire in 2007.

The other summer green is on the other side.

Hyde Park also has a winter green.

  1. This is such a relaxing shot - the field is covered in sun and shade, so a comforting mix of warm and cooler gives us the option in how we relak - sun worshipers or not. A beautiful place to unwind!

  2. And nobody around (except the photographer, of course) to disturb the serenity!

    SHADOW DANCE

    Shadows here and shadows there,
    Shadows, shadows everywhere!
    Shadows left and shadows right;
    Shadows dancing through the night!
    Shadows crouching on the wall;
    Shadows spring and shadows fall
    On the unsuspecting guest,
    Who thought shadows offered rest!

  3. The surrounding trees cast such broad shadows, dappled with sunlight...a terrific shot.

  4. They did a nice job of building a pavillion that fit in with the surroundings... love the lace of shadows on the lawn.

  5. Very cool ShadowShot. Now here is a stupid question for you: Why do they call them bowling greens? Are they used for lawn blowing?? hmmm. Happy SSS.
