Undertaker's car park under water
After heavy rain the car parking space for the undertakers on the corner of Market Street and Dowson Road is inundated by a huge puddle.
The reflection on the right is of the back of a house on Thornley Street, while the trees on the left are on Dowson Road.
See a wider, coloured view on Geograph.

My Camera-Shy Self Portrait
On the first day of every month the City Daily Photo Community comes together publishing photos from around the world with their interpretation of a chosen theme. Your Camera-Shy Self Portrait is the theme for April 1st.
I took this reflective shot in the window of the Cotton Bale public house when it was closed for refurbishment a few weeks ago.
See more contributions to the theme at this link.

Weekend Reflections plus a cat or two
I was passing the lawnmower and cycle shop on Market Street when I noticed the cat looking out of the window.
The other side of the street is nicely reflected in the window.

Weekend reflections in the Cotton Bale
On Thursday I posted a photograph of the Cotton Bale on Hyde DP Xtra and a close-up of the Pub sign here.
The J D Wetherspoons pub on the corner of John Street and Market Place is currently closed for refurbishment, so it was ideal opportunity to catch a reflection of the street in its window.

Sleet on the Street
Outside Wendy's Hair and the British Red Cross charity shop by the bus stop on Market Street a short sharp shower of sleet has made the pavement very slippery.

Hercules reflected
Some weeks ago I showed you the statue of Hercules above Pagliacci.
Now here he is reflected in the window of the electric goods shop across the street.

Another reflection in a puddle on the Trans Pennine Trail
There is nearly always a large puddle by the Dowson Road bridge on the former Godley Junction to Apethorn railway line now used by the Trans Pennine Trail and National Cycle Network Route #62.
It isn't the first time I've photographed it but usually I do so from the opposite direction. This was taken a couple of weeks ago from just under the bridge looking towards Swains Valley.

Geese by the River Tame
These Canada geese were by the side of the river Tame in the Jet Amber Fields area between Kingston and St Anne's Haughton.
Dozens more of them were grazing in the fields and trees nearby - see Hyde DP Xtra.

A strange angle of reflection
This week's contribution to Weekend Reflections poses a strange question - and no I don't know the answer.
I was standing by the side of the NatWest bank on Market Street close to the cash dispenser (a.k.a. ATMS, hole-in-the-wall) and shooting up the street. A woman walked past me just as I was taking the photograph.
What seems strange to me though is that I have captured a reflection of the back of her head but surely that would happen if she was behind me but in fact she is in front of me.
I thought I knew about geometry and angles but now I'm not so sure. Maybe the metal-work around the ATM doesn't reflect in the same way an ordinary mirror does.

Steel Reflections
