A Model of the Theatre Royal


One of the exhibits at Gee Cross Fete was a model of the Theatre Royal made by Alan Tolfrey a modelmaker from Mossley.

    What a wonderful model he has created. In Paris I saw a model of Saint Chapelle which was amazing in its detail. This takes amazing patience and talent.

    Hopefully someone with imagination and money will rescue this fine old theatre. We as a country have lost so many fine theatres and cinemas over the last few decades. I think I read somewhere that here in Leeds at the time of the Great War there were around 112 cinemas around the city, they have mostly gone. Good to see there is a campaign to save the Theatre Royal.
