T is for Towpath
The towpath of the Peak Forest Canal approaching Manchester Road.
On the left is a grade II listed former canal warehouse now used as offices.
On the right are new houses built on the site of the former Automasters engineering works.
Compare with the view in 2008 before the works was demolished - Hyde DP Vol.1, Automasters and with the view in 2011 before the new houses close to the canal had been built - Hyde DP Vol.1, Moorside Place.

the area really looks a lot better with the new houses. It was nice to see how it looked just a few years ago. Changed happens and if people aren't paying attention then they forget what was there before. Nice that you documented the change!
ReplyDeleteSuch a contrast, good to see it regenerated!
ReplyDeleteChange can be for the better and so it is.

They look good facing each other across the canal.
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting to contrast with the older views. I really like that bridge.

ReplyDeleteSuch an interesting area. I've always thought it would be fun to visit a town with canals. Lovely buildings.
