ABC Wednesday: C is for Clarendon Place Car Park

With the old multi-storey car park finally demolished and the site cleared, a new council car park has been created at the bottom end of Clarendon Place near the entrance to the Clarendon Square Shopping Centre. It is especially good news for disabled drivers who can now park much closer to the entrance.

This one takes up about half the area of the old multi-storey; the other half will be the site of the KFC outlet which will be built soon.

Just nearby the car parks either side of Beeley Street are still operating but users need to be careful where they buy their tickets from as one is run by Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council and the other by Simple Intelligent Parking.

A contribution to ABC Wednesday.

  1. "It is especially good news for disabled drivers" is good to here. I still think this is something lacking in the Isle of Man, design for all to access amenities.

  3. There is need here for disabled driver's parking as well. Particularly in older areas.

  4. They have those multispace machines in Albany. Since I don't have a car, it matters little to me personally.

  6. Ugh, I hate it when cities try to confuse you with parking. It's nice though that they are trying to encourage other forms of transport by eliminating some of the parking. Although I'm not sure if a new KFC is the nicest of all things...

  8. I know it isn't the focus, but the buildings in the background really captured my attention.

  9. Hello I'm glad to better parking for disabled drivers. I find it particularly annoying when able bodied people park in these places.
