The white-faced cottages date back to the 18th century when they would have been surrounded by green fields. Now they are part of the modern housing estate based around Grosvenor Road.
Houses like this seem stranded. Being absorbed into a wider neighbourhood may be no bad thing - but the proximity of the road must have brought about an even greater change in atmosphere.
The white building actually blends in with the other homes, in spite of the difference in colour. They all give character to the street.
ReplyDeleteThe cottages really do look appealing.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a very quiet place ... I love the subtle shadows ...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, very old home!
ReplyDeleteGreen fields giving way to housing estates...the way of the modern world (*sigh*).

So charming! Would have loved to have seen them back THEN though! That pesky progress. :-)
