Fire in a flat on Market Street

Last week I heard first via twitter that there was a fire on Market Street between the Bus Station and the Town Hall.

Later reports said it was in a flat above a pharmacy, but there are three pharmacies in that long row of shops and it didn't say which.

I was down next day and it seems that the fire was not above Lloyd's pharmacy but the Top Flight dry cleaners next door, who appeared to be still open for business.

I understand no-one was hurt but it had caused huge traffic disruption.

  1. Gracious, that looks like a serious fire! I'm glad to hear that no one was hurt.
On a side note, how do three pharmacies manage to stay open so near to each other? That's amazing :)

  2. A couple of weeks ago I passed by a house seriously damaged by a fire, undergoing demolition work, so the fire had happened at least some days before. You could still smell the smoke.
