Trimming the Trail


A hedge-cutting machine is trimming the edge of the banking on this stretch of the TransPennine Trail. Its tyres are churning up the ground of the bridlepath.

  1. A familiar scene that evokes familiar emotions. Hedge-trimming is necessary and there must be thousands of time-consuming hedgerow miles in the English countryside. But this method brings destruction too.
