The King William IV on Talbot Road, Newton is affectionately known by locals as The King Bill.
The landlord in the 1980s was Derek Quinn who was the guitarist in the 1960s group, Freddie and the Dreamers.

Free house means they are not "tied" to selling the products of a particular brewery but are "free" to buy and sell the products of any brewery.
DeleteKnow nothing about King William (which is odd) but I used enormously to enjoy Freddy and the Dreamers' music. Indeed, I sometimes sing one of their songs around the house.
