Hercules reflected

Some weeks ago I showed you the statue of Hercules above Pagliacci.

Now here he is reflected in the window of the electric goods shop across the street.

New platform at Hyde Central Station

The last time I showed a photo of Hyde Central Station there was nowhere to sit.

Now that the work on platform 1 has been completed the three chairs out in the open and the small shelter are available again.

ABC Wednesday: D is for Danger on Dowson Road

This was the pavement on Dowson Road last Friday. Although the main road had been gritted and traffic was flowing, the pavement consisted of slippery slush which would turn into deadly ice once the temperature dropped.

Church Brow Gardens

When I posted a photograph of this valley through which flows the Gower Hey Brook in January 2014 the bottom was flooded to quite a height.

When I walked by a couple of weeks ago the brook was barely a trickle.

Many years ago the bank below St George's Church was lined with allotments and gardens. Now only one allotment remains. Due to a combination of storms, vandalism and some neglect everything is gradually slipping down the valley side.
