Cyclists on the Trans Pennine Trail
Two cyclists on the National Cyclist Network Route #62 approach Stockport Road bridge and the turn off to Osborne Road.
This section is along the line of the former Apethorn to Godley Junction railway.
Following persistant wet weather, the bridlepath on the left, part of the Trans Pennine trail, is like a quagmire and filled with deep puddles that reflect the winter trees.

It would have been fascinating to see how the old railway line was (with a train on it of course), but these cyclist will do very nicely.
ReplyDeletePS It seems you have got the rain and we have got the sun :-)
Want to see the line with a train running - check out this 1947 film on Old Hyde
DeleteThank you for that link! Interesting little story in many ways, not only railways :-)
ReplyDeleteWonderful photo in black and white! I really like the composition!
ReplyDelete:)
Great black and white capture for the day, Gerald!! Hope things dry off a bit for your weekend!!
ReplyDeleteSo very English
ReplyDeleteThought it was an old canal with the water in it. Looks good in B&W
ReplyDeleteAn exciting variation of tones and textures! And the dark shapes of the figures seem to give it all a focus!
ReplyDeleteDid you see the programme (Wednseday, BBC2) about the walk you can do along along the old Weymouth to Portland line?
ReplyDeleteWonderfully done B&W!

I love the perspective in this shot and way it portrays a journey. I was wondering if maybe you would like to link it into my meme, The Human Condition.

ReplyDeleteI had to read to make sure it was an old railway rather than a canal. Hope you are well Gerald, nice to see a BW photo for a change now we are all digital we forget BW
