New Year's Day on the Trans Pennine Trail

Looking past the Foxholes oak tree towards Knott Fold Bridge on the former Godley Junction to Apethorn railway line, now part of the Trans Pennine Trail and National Cycle Route #62. Taken just before noon on New Year's Day 2013.

See a closer view of the embankment below the tree on Hyde DP Xtra.

See how the tree looked in summer.

A contribution to Sunday Bridges at San Francisco Bay Daily Photo.

  1. hello gerald
this is the bridge that brother tom shined across from the outside of the bridge to write his name when he was in his youth. easy peasy some might say but this was when we had steam trains coming along both ways. it's a wonder he didn't fall into a coal waggon, he would have been on a free trip to stockport!
this tree reminds me of mr & mrs cookson, the elderly couple who lived in the wooden bungalow between the tree and the bridge - i used to go on errands on hyde lane for them. i walked around the area a few weeks ago and could make out some of the trees and plants from their garden.
