RIP: PC Fiona Bone and PC Nicola Hughes

When I posted a version of this photo of Ashworth Lane in June someone commented
What a beautiful neighbourhood.
and indeed it is, but yesterday two policewomen were murdered in cold blood just around the corner at the top of the picture.

I won't go into the details - if you haven't heard it on the news see the BBC News report for information.

Our thoughts are with the families of the women and the people of Mottram & Hattersley who are making the headlines again for all the wrong reasons.

  1. When the announcement was made on the news, I wondered if this was the area we had been getting to know through your photos. Makes the country smaller and events nearer.

  3. Oh dear. Poor woman. That's terrible, and unfortunately all too common.

    1. actually while it may be all too common in the States, it is fortunately still not too common over here.

  4. A terrible tradgedy. i wonder why no one picked up how traumatised the killer was after the death of is son. Maybe it could all have been prevented. I guess therewill be an inquiry into all of this. How is the neighbourhood coping.
