Godley Arches and Steps
Yesterday's photograph of the entrance to Godley Reservoir was taken from the bus stop across the road.
Turn round 90 degrees and this is the view we see.
The arches carry the Glossop to Manchester railway line over the A57. Godley station lies to the right and the entrance to the Glossop-bound platform is up the steps behind the fence. The entrance to the Manchester-bound platform is on the other side of the arches.

I really like the look of that bridge!
ReplyDeleteNice one. I like the timeless sturdy looks of this kind of bridges.
ReplyDeleteAs he has commented in the past, «Louis» likes the way you give the context of your photos. It helps those who are unlikely to see the actual location have a sense of how it all fits together. This looks to be an older bridge, built in the days when England's "can do" attitude made her a world power greater than her size. The world owes much to Britain for all she did in those times.
ReplyDelete«Louis» thanks you for linking with this week's Sunday Bridges.
These last two pictures have been keepers in my book.
