Winter solstice at Knott Fold

Looking under Knott Fold Bridge a couple of hours before sunset on the shortest day. The bridge (#121) crosses the former Godley Junction to Apethorn railway line now used as the route for the Trans Pennine Trail and National Cycle Route #62.

A contribution to Sunday Bridges at San Francisco Bay Daily Photo.

  1. You know I forgot when it was, thought the solstice was tomorrow

  2. «Louis» is glad when the winter solstice arrives. He does not like these days when it is already getting dark at 3:30 in the afternoon!
Be that as it may, «Louis» appreciates your second contribution to this week's Sunday Bridges. He enjoys seeing these older bridges that you post.

  3. Must be our longest days in the deep south! And incredibly humid. So am loving that bleak bridge. And a trail...an outlandish ambition of mine is to walk some of those trails. And the Cit, yesterday, that's shocking example from a Citroen owner, how could they.
Best wishes. This must be my last year...last days...of daily photo efforts.

  5. Nice old bridge like the romans must have made it. Also a lovely underpass shoot. I like it.

  7. A gorgeous shot! I love the glow of the setting sun framed by the arch of the bridge. Nicely captured!
