Beeley Street

Looking out from the multi-storey car park at Clarendon Place. A few years ago parking was free on the upper storeys but after charges were introduced very few people parked on the higher levels. It is due to be demolished and replaced by a KFC outlet. Beeley Street used to be the home of the Hyde Lads Club which was demolished in 1992 to make way for the ground car park.

The Iceland store on Travis Street in the background was built on the site of the former Ritz Cinema.

The original coloured version of this view can be seen on Geograph.

A view looking up into the multi-storey car park can be seen on Hyde DP Xtra.

A contribution to The Weekend in Black and White.

  1. Interesting watery view of this street scene. The parking pylons create a bold frame for the subtle tones in the scene.

  2. «Louis» looked at the color version of the image at Geograph. He thinks this works better in the b&w.
For some reason, it pains him to learn that a KFC is going to be built at this site!
