John Grundy House

These hi-rise apartments above the Clarendon Shopping Centre are named after John Grundy a former mayor of Hyde.

The block is one of two such built in Hyde, I think, in the late 1950s or early 60s. The other is Chartist House which can be seen on Hyde DP Xtra.

The multi-storey car park on the left is due to be demolished and replaced by a Kentucky Fried Chicken outlet.

A contribution to the Heights theme at City Daily Photo.

  1. They call it progress. 'Finger-licken' good?

  2. Tall buildings are a natural for this particular theme.

  3. I love the angle on this shot! Oh no, not another Kentucky Fried Chicken??

  4. It's definitely a good angle for the shot.

I can't recall the last time I went in a KFC...

  5. Interesting contribution to the theme day. Have a good weekend!

  6. I would go for the 60s when chartish was built.remember going to look at the show flat.
