John Grundy House

These hi-rise apartments above the Clarendon Shopping Centre are named after John Grundy a former mayor of Hyde.

The block is one of two such built in Hyde, I think, in the late 1950s or early 60s. The other is Chartist House which can be seen on Hyde DP Xtra.

The multi-storey car park on the left is due to be demolished and replaced by a Kentucky Fried Chicken outlet.

A contribution to the Heights theme at City Daily Photo.
