The Weekend in Black & White: Church Street
In my post yesterday I was looking over the wall into St George's churchyard.
Today we are looking down Church Street past the Church of England primary school.
Do you notice the two holes in the side of the upright stones? These were originally the ends of iron railings that stretched between the several uprights along the wall. The railings were removed during WWII to "aid the war effort" and have never been replaced.
A contribution to The Weekend in Black and White.

ReplyDeleteI love the light and the texture in this photo. Beautifully composed.
ReplyDeleteI love old buildings and walls and churches and this one is beautiful and really old. about the renting of the church, they moved the church, the courthouse, house, boaryard, two barns and a schoolhouse on 3 acres of land in downtown Bradenton, a historical village to preserve them. it is open to the public. they raise funds to take care of the park by renting the church. all of belongs to our county park system, right now the church steeple is full of termites and they need 60,000 dollars to repair it, they have raised half.
