Private Bridge

"Private No Road" - it says on the gate to the bridge over the railway line from Manchester via Hyde Central and Woodley to Romiley and Rose Hill (Marple).

"Please keep this access clear at all times" - it says on the gate to the road leading from the bottom of Grosvenor Crescent to the bridge.

To see what is on the other side - see Hyde DP Xtra.

A contribution to signs, signs.

  1. Fine looking bridge. I'm surprised it is private.

  3. Can't believe the close proximity of the two gates! Interesting combination for a bridge that may once have had public access?

  4. A private bridge seems quite unusual!

  6. I've never known this to have a public right of way Gerald.. before the houses were built it was just field for Foxholes and Cloughfold Farms... There is a public footpath that goes under the old railway towards Cloughfold, and also another public right of way was past Thistlefields over the Godley To Apethorn Junction..onto Cheethamfold

  7. So, say a person wanted to get across, are they "SOL", so to speak, or do they have to pay an ugly troll somewhere? *wink*

    1. You'll have to use one of the alternative routes as mentioned in the linked post on Hyde DP Xtra.
