Lady Lavender

There is a new café by the market ground entrance to Clarendon Mall. The premises have been previously been occupied by a jewellers, a money-exchange office and a pawnbrokers.

  1. It's nicer with a café isn't it :)
But I'm not sure if the lady wants coffee or a new ring ;)

    1. Not sure what this comment means. I have signage to indicate that I am a vintage tea rooms and my window display consists of celebration cakes and cupcakes.

  2. A cafe - how intriguing! That window doesn't make me think of a cafe, exactly - what is the skull doing there, for one thing? But it definitely is eye-catching - great find!

    1. The Skull is a handmade solid white chocolate skull.

  3. Certainly an unusual window for a cafe. Does it have many customers?

    1. I am not just a tea rooms, I also sell cupcakes and make celebration cakes. I have displayed the examples of my cupcakes and celebration cakes in my window. It's not an unusual window display for a celebration cake suppliers which is predominantly what I am.

  4. I thought at first that this was a home decor shop! Perhaps that woman is also a little confused?!

  5. I'd like to go inside and have a taste. I assume there are products with lavender flavoring on the menu. The window decor makes me think they have some delicious pastries too. Much nicer than a pawnbrokers or money exchange place.

    1. Thank you Sara, you'd be welcome to come inside and have a taste. I do serve Lavender shortbread, along with lots of different flavours of cupcakes. I'm pleased that you can see my window display is full of cakes. I have been surprised by some of the comments on the blog from people who don't seem to realise that the window has cakes in it. I'm not sure what else I can do with the window display, other than fill it with cakes, so that people realise what my business is.

  7. This is an eye-catching and unique cafe - I would be fooled yet upon further review, I do see a muffin as a tantalizing and tasty clue. I'd be certain to visit!

  8. I can see what some people mean with regard to the windows - it's not the contents of the window that's the problem, it's the style of the fittings. If you look properly it's obvious it's a cake shop, but to a casual passer by not so (many jewellers sell ornaments). If it's not practical/affordable/desirable to change the windows, maybe block off the little one with a vintage style poster on the inside advertising what you do?
