Brighton Bank

A Victorian terrace on Mottram Road opposite the end of Halton Street.

It looks as though Brighton Bank was originally a group of four houses but the end house has been demolished.

Unlike the earlier terraced housing across the road these are set back from the road and have front gardens.

They were built by I. & E.F. in 1876 as given on the name/date plaque which can be viewed on Hyde DP Xtra.

  1. They are quite attractive. I think, however, as with the villas in which we live, to come home inebriated would create quite a challenge as to exactly which walk will lead to your door.

Which means, of course, one should not come home inebriated. :-)

  2. I think the end house was separate and larger than the others. I believe it was converted into flats....I lived in one, very briefly, sometime in the seventies.
