Behind the fence on the left is the Aldi supermarket. Underneath is the towpath of the Peak Forest Canal. The towpath changes sides here by means of a roving bridge - see
Manchester Road Roving Brdige.
Behind the fence on the other side of the canal is a footpath that is signposted "Over Yonder" but actually leads to the Tameside Animal Rescue Sanctuary.
