He states, "Before it was licensed, the building is said to have been a bakehouse" so, it would seem that the building has undergone previous change of use. He also refers to "was once popular with the amateur actors of the Theatre Royal and, more recently, those of the Festival Theatre" - they always seemed to be in evidence whenever I happened to pop in for a pint in midweek, which must have been their rehearsal night. The room at the corner of the building was known as the "Chart Room" because of its nautical flavour - plenty of maps, charts and seafaring brasses. Certainly, the end of an era.Doc Couzensnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2940226192800721137.post-45406921506386328702015-03-10T13:29:03.366+00:002015-03-10T13:29:03.366+00:00The Unity was a Robinson's Brewery pub which w...The Unity was a Robinson's Brewery pub which was reflected in its interior style - a little old fashioned but welcoming and homely, nonetheless. A little off the "main drag" of Market Street, it always seemed to me like one of Hyde's little treasures. It's a shame that it's this type of pub that has to go to the wall whereas we tend to be left with the less than desirable town centre "boozers."Doc Couzensnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2940226192800721137.post-45504117997201317212015-03-10T02:50:25.127+00:002015-03-10T02:50:25.127+00:00Quite interesting architectural detailsQuite interesting architectural detailsLuiZ FernandoShttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11706515208558579237noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2940226192800721137.post-34503345416148531472015-03-10T00:59:43.430+00:002015-03-10T00:59:43.430+00:00I like the look of it.I like the look of it.William Kendallhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00331324250821836822noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2940226192800721137.post-40570013952638147062015-03-09T23:33:37.064+00:002015-03-09T23:33:37.064+00:00Great shot of a unique and colorful building ~ gre...Great shot of a unique and colorful building ~ great architecture!

Happy Week to you,
artmusedog and carolcarol l mckennahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06151914466378663660noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2940226192800721137.post-1064007444640790862015-03-09T23:10:42.027+00:002015-03-09T23:10:42.027+00:00I'm glad they repurposed it!I'm glad they repurposed it!
